Castlemaine Community House has over 25 years of experience in running adult education classes. We have ACFE-subsidised classes to increase your skills, courses to share the knowledge of food growing, cooking and preserving, and a range of courses on a fee-for-service for health, leisure and pleasure. Computers and Business Courses

Apple Mac Computers Class: An introduction to computer systems, programs and software for Mac users with Tim Ratcliffe. This course will not run in term 2 but please contact us for expressions of interest. Details.

How to Use MailChimp: MailChimp allow you to send 12,000 emails to up to 2.000 subscribers for free. Learn how to enhance your business marketing by reaching more people easily and cheaply. Craft and Art

Watercolour Painting: Hilary Loftus has a popular watercolour classes on Wednesdays from 30 April 2014 at Ray Bradfield Room. Details.

Crochet Along: Learn This class expands on the beginners class from Term 1. Learn to read hat and scarf patterns and other skills with Kerrith McGrath. Begins 6 May 2014. Details.

Theatre Games: Come and have fun and join in a series of Theatre Games with Ramon Angeloni who studied at the Lee Strasburg Theatre Institute.  Details.



Permaculture Design Course: We regularly run Permaculture Design Courses. With ACFE support we are able to offer this course at a very low cost. It begins with the basic principles of permaculture, starting with how water, soils and climate affect gardens, orchards and animals. Also includes both theoretical sessions and visits to and activities at working permaculture properties. We also have guest speakers. Cooking for Numbers: Learn about catering with an emphasis on sourcing food with low carbon footprint. This course will run for 4 sessions from the 14 May 2014. Contact us for more information or to book in! Details.


Health and Wellbeing

Hatha Yoga: On Tuesdays at 9am in school terms, Wendy Ashton leads a gentle yoga class at the The Forge, 341 Barker Street. The group welcomes newcomers. Each session: $12. Details.

Tai Chi: Ron Moore leads tai chi every Friday at 9.30am, at the Botanic Garden (near the Old Tea Room). Gold coin donation. Details.

Dance and fitness: The Nia Technique: The Nia Technique is a fusion fitness, movement, dance and lifestyle practice, designed for all fitness levels and body types for both men and women. We have a series of weekly group classes on Monday evenings. Details.



Spanish: Susana Fernández teaches two classes on Tuesdays from April 29. Details.
