Adult Education Program at Castlemaine Community House

We have two ACFE-subsidised courses: an Apple Mac computer class on Monday evenings, and Cook Fresh, Cook Local, a cooking course for anyone interested in catering using fresh, seasonal and local produce, which starts on 31 May. • Our education program coordinates with the Growing Abundance project to offer one-day workshops on bottling and food preserving and sourdough breadmaking (through CAKE, Castlemaine Abundance Kitchen Enterprise); the Harvest Group of Growing Abundance has regular workshops on maintaining and propagating fruit trees, pest control, etc.
• To complement these workshops we have sessions of seasonal cooking and preserving: ‘Home Grown, Well Preserved’, funded by Healthy Active  Living in Mount Alexander (HALMA). If you enjoy the community vibe, join one of our ‘community food processing days’, bottling fruit, saucing tomatoes or juicing apples. • You are always welcome to join gentle Hatha Yoga, which meets at the Botanic Gardens on a Tuesday morning during school terms, and Tai Chi, which meets there on a Friday morning.
• We offer computer advice, one-to-one, but you must book in advance. Phone 5472 4842 or call into the Faulder Watson Hall.

Course bookings and expressions of interest may be made in person, by phone, or by mail, or book online here. Office hours are Monday-Thursday, 9am-3pm.

Cancellation

If we do not have the required number of paid participants before a course begins, we may have to cancel it. If we cancel your course, you will be entitled to a 100 per cent refund, or you may choose to transfer the credit to another course. By giving us notice that you cannot attend up to three working days before the course is to begin, your enrolment can be cancelled and the fee refunded in full.

Fees

In case of hardship, we can arrange for you to pay in instalments if you speak to the Education Coordinator.
