Castlemaine Community House has over 25 years of experience in running adult education classes. We have ACFE-subsidised classes to increase your skills, courses to share the knowledge of food growing, cooking and preserving, and a range of courses on a fee-for-service for health, leisure and pleasure. Apple Mac Computers Class: An introduction to basic computer systems, programs and software for Mac users, with Tim Ratcliffe. Bring your own laptop or desktop. We are taking expressions of interest for 2014 and we will contact you early next year.
Health and Wellbeing
Hatha Yoga: On Tuesdays at 9am in school terms, Wendy Ashton leads a gentle yoga class at the The Forge, 341 Barker Street. The group welcomes newcomers. Each session: $12
Tai Chi: Ron Moore leads tai chi every Friday at 9.30am, at the Botanic Garden (near the Old Tea Room). Gold coin donation.
Dance and fitness: The Nia Technique: The Nia Technique is a fusion fitness, movement, dance and lifestyle practice, designed for all fitness levels and body types for both men and women. We have a series of weekly group classes on Monday evenings. More details.
Craft and Art
Hand Sewing: Linnet Good will teach you some basic stitches, as well as some which are a bit more challenging, and when to use either. More details.
Spanish: Susana Fernández teaches two classes on Tuesdays. Beginners Level 2: Tuesdays 5.45pm-6.45pm, for students who have completed 1-2 terms of Spanish or have a basic knowledge of the language. Beginners Level 1: Tuesdays 7pm-8pm, a beginners course for students with no previous knowledge/experience of the language. Cost: $180 ($150 concession) More details.

Growing Abundance Courses
Permaculture Design Course
We regularly run Permaculture Design Courses. With ACFE support we are able to offer this course at a very low cost. It begins with basic principles of permaculture, starting with how water, soils and climate affect gardens, orchards and animals, and includes both theoretical sessions and visits to and activities at working permaculture properties. We also have guest speakers. Contact us for more information about this informative course, which will run again in February 2014.
Making and Planting Wicking Beds
