Growing Abundance Workshops and Courses
We have a number of seasonal workshops and courses throughout the year, growing, harvesting, and maintaining trees and gardens, cooking and preserving food, etc. See the list on the right for the current workshops for which we are taking bookings. By joining the Growing Abundance email list, you can receive details of all the workshops as soon as they are organised.
Workshops coming up:
Cook Fresh Cook Local
This cooking course is both theoretical and practical, using the philosophy of our Local Produce Guide. Students will be introduced to preserving and cooking locally grown, seasonal food. There will be discussion sessions, field trips and lots of cooking with tutors Ellen Madigan and Nikki Valentini.
This course is ideal for anyone wishing to use local, seasonal food in their catering business or at home, or for anyone wishing to join C.A.K.E.‘s catering team.
Duration: four full day sessions start on Friday 31 May. Venue to be advised.
Cost: $240/$100 concession (includes $50 amenities)
Pruning, Grafting and Natural Pest Control for fruit trees
Pruning: Sunday 9th June 10-2pm – Castlemaine (venue will be confirmed upon booking)
Saturday 22nd June 10-2pm – Castlemaine (venue will be confirmed upon booking)
Natural Pest Control:
Sunday 21st July, 10 am-2 pm – @ The Hub Plot, Templeton St, Castlemaine
Sunday 18th August, 10 am-2 pm – venue TBA
Grafting: includes hands on experience of a variety of techniques taught by local orchardist with over 50 years experience from the Mount Alexander Fruit Gardens, Merv Carr. Sunday 8th September – 10-2 pm in Yapeen (venue will be confirmed upon booking)
