Kids are loving YAP (Young Artists Program)! And we're loving watching their creativity develop... Self portraits on mirrors last week 🙂

*** If you have a Young Artist who'd like to join in this term, please contact us asap and we'll see what we can do for you.

We've flown the Rainbow Flag today at Castlemaine Health on IDAHOBIT Day.

We also welcomed Castlemaine Community House's Martyn Shaddick as our special guest speaker, who shared a cuppa and piece of rainbow cake with us at our IDAHOBIT Day Afternoon Tea.

We talked about history, legislation, oppression, tolerance and the right of all people to feel valued by their community. We also learned a few more things about the work of the Mount Alexander Shire community's LGBTIQ round table and the Mount Alexander Shire LGBTIQ+ Strategic Plan.

Thanks to Rachel Fry for pulling this event together, to Martyn for speaking with us, to Mayor Bronwen Machin and all guests for joining us.

And of course, a big thank you to our Hotel Services staff for some incredibly lovely rainbow cakes!

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia. The date stands in solemn recognition of May 17, 1990, when the World Health Organisation no longer listed homosexuality as a diagnosis for mental illness.

The world has come a long way in embracing diversity and inclusion but we still have a way to go. Today is an opportunity to pause and reflect on the policies and prejudices that continue to affect the LGBTIQ community.

Our vision is a world that values and affirms all LGBTIQ+ people as full citizens. Before #Ausvotes, let's celebrate #IDAHOBIT by standing up for #Equality today and everyday.

Because EQUALITY is good for humanity.
