Along with Maldon Neighbourhood Centre and Newstead Community Garden, we're thrilled to be announcing our new project... Food Links!

This project is about strengthening local food security through collaborative community engagement and education with existing regional community gardens.

Essentially, Food Links seeks to bring together community gardens and food relief programs to foster stronger, more resilient and sustainable communities.

And stage 1 is to establish the Food Links Steering Group. We're keen to hear from people who are willing to contribute energy/knowledge/time/enthusiasm to help steer this project toward achieving its goals for our community.

Indications of interest need to be registered by Monday 22nd February, by contacting either Castlemaine Community House (5472 4842 / communitydevelopment@cch.org.au) Maldon Neighbourhood Centre (5475 2093 / info@maldonnc.org.au ) or Newstead Community Garden (ecologica@bigpond.com.au / 0439 003 469)

This project has been made possible by funding received from Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal FRRR

How you all doing out there folks?

Whatever fancy bow you tie on it (circuit-breaker, snap lockdown, etc... ), it's another lockdown... which for some means home-schooling, back working from home or even closure of your business again... a halt to plans, pause button hit on your karate/qi gong/guitar classes...

It can also bring a mess of feelings to the surface... uncertainty, despair, frustration, anger... yep, fair enough...

Each will tackle this in their own way, but perhaps our message going out to you is... take care... of you, of your people, your community... and go gently...

Also, remember to call the Mount Alexander Shire Council COVID-19 support service on 1800 512 446, should you need any advice on support (food, mental health, financial, Covid stuff, etc) available in our region.

Castlemaine Community House is now accessible to people of all abilities.

Last week I joined Maree Edwards MP to view the new ramp funded by the Andrews Labor Government.

There is also a new wheelchair lift inside and upgraded toilet facilities.

Nobody should be prevented from undertaking training because they can’t physically access facilities.

And for Castlemaine, this means more residents being able to access their Learn Local and gain new skills.
