A great compliments to the Art Pathways course, this course focuses on the essentials of an Arts Professional Practice.

Over 18-sessions, students will explore the diverse components of professional practice, event management, grant writing, gallery and studio arrangements, marketing and communication, business skills and processes for evaluation.

The course will culminate in the creation of a solo or group art event organised by the students.

Facilitator: Lucas Maddock

Lucas Maddock is an arts educator and artist with over 20 years experience in the sector. His practice uses sculpture, installation and multi-media as ways to explore personal and social themes. As an arts educator, Lucas is passionate about helping people find their ‘voice’ through visual arts – sparking interesting and inspiring conversations, and helping students develop and place their practice within the broader contemporary art community.

Lucas has taught at TAFEs and high schools for the last six years, including Chisholm, RMIT and Northern College of Art and Technology. He has technitioned for leading artists and the VCA. Lucas currently teaches sculpture in the RMIT Visual Arts Diploma program. Lucas has a Bachelor of Fine Art (VCA), Advanced Diploma in Applied Design (Swinburne University of Technology), and a Cert IV in Training and Assessment.
