Espalier Pruning & Advanced Techniques Workshop

Many people love the idea of espalier, and it has some benefits, but espaliered trees also demand attention and regular work: from installing the wires and weekly pruning during spring and summer – you need to be committed.

Workshop 2 takes place at the Kitchen Garden – rear of CCH – a Community Garden which is undergoing something a renaissance under the guidance of enthusiastic volunteers

Please Bring: Secateurs, if you have them.

Dress Code: Warm Clothes, Boots and Hat.

A minimum deposit of 25% must be paid before Thursday 30th May to secure a place in this workshop.

Date: Sunday, 2nd June. (If very wet weather is forecast, we will decide to postpone 24 hours before.)
Time: 10.00am – 12.30pm
Where: Castlemaine Community House, 30 Templeton Street.
Cost: $45. Full / $35. Conc or Early Bird Discount. (EDB available until 17th May)

Tutor: Ian Lillington

Ian Lillington has been pruning fruit trees for decades. With his partner Marita, they run an orchard on half an acre in Campbells Creek, with about 30 fruit-producing trees.

Ian has also been involved in permaculture design and teaching since the early 1990s. Working alongside David Holmgren and learning from Bill Mollison, Ian is passionate about urban food forests and natural building.

Ian is author of an introduction to permaculture “The Holistic Life – a Beginners’ Guide to Permaculture”, and is featured in the anthology – “Permaculture Pioneers” and wrote the chapter on Permaculture in the “Encyclopedia of Sustainability”

Limited to maximum of 10 places but we will run additional classes if there is demand.
