An event every week that begins at 9:30 am on Wednesday, repeating until 25 March, 2020

Embrace your inner green thumb!

Over 8 weeks you will learn the basics of vegetable gardening from soil and seeds to plant care and harvesting. Each week a different topic will be covered, and will include hands on time in the garden as well as an activity to take home and try.

Topics covered include:

  • Home composting.
  • Mulching techniques.
  • Organic pest control.
  • Growing herbs in raised garden beds and pots, and
  • Designing and building living gifts.

This course is ideal for anyone wanting to turn their backyard into a productive paradise or is considering horticulture as a career and wants some hands on experience.

A minimum deposit of 25% must be paid before Monday 3rd February to secure a place in this course.

Date: Wednesdays, 5th February – 25th March (8 weeks)
Time: 9.30am -12.30pm
Where: Castlemaine Community House, 30 Templeton Street.
Cost: $90. (Full) / $75. (Concession or Early Bird Discount. EBD available to 15th January)

Tutor: Rayna

Rayna Fahey is a Drummond local, avid food grower and permaculture designer. Together with her husband Karl, Rayna used to run the POWer Plants Community Nursery in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The nursery raised thousands of seedlings for schools, community groups, and home gardens; as well as helping many volunteers learn the joys of growing your own food. Rayna is passionate about low cost, nutritious food, and lives for the taste of home grown summer fruits.
