Spring Preparation: Garden Fruit Trees

Prepare your fruit trees for Spring! This workshop will cover the following areas;

  • mulching – what are the best ways to mulch trees and the importance of controlling grass and weeds.
  • feeding – what compost/feed and how much.
  • watering systems – planning how to keep your trees well watered in the summer.
  • netting options to make sure you get some thing to harvest.

Payment must be made before 26th August to secure a place in this course.

Where: Castlemaine Community House

Tutor: Ian Lillington

Ian Lillington has been pruning fruit trees for decades. With his partner Marita, they run an orchard on half an acre in Campbells Creek, with about 30 fruit-producing trees.

Ian has also been involved in permaculture design and teaching since the early 1990s. Working alongside David Holmgren and learning from Bill Mollison, Ian is passionate about urban food forests and natural building.

Ian is author of an introduction to permaculture “The Holistic Life – a Beginners’ Guide to Permaculture”, and is featured in the anthology – “Permaculture Pioneers” and wrote the chapter on Permaculture in the “Encyclopedia of Sustainability”
