Grow Your Own – Beginners Gardening

Embrace your inner green thumb!

Over 5 weeks learn the basics of gardening, from soil & seeds to plant care and harvesting. Each week a different topic will be covered and will include hands on time in the garden, as well as an activity to take home and try.

Topics covered include: 

  • Panting of seeds & seedlings.
  • Garden bed design.
  • Propagating.
  • Tools.
  • Safe harvesting.

This course is ideal for those with limited gardening knowledge, wanting to turn their backyard, balcony, or a windowsill into a productive paradise.

COVID-19 measures will be in place.

Date: Tuesdays, 21st August – 18th September (5 sessions)
Time: 10.00am – 1.00pm
Where: Castlemaine Community House, 30 Templeton Street.

Tutor: Rayna

Rayna Fahey is a Drummond local, avid food grower and permaculture designer. Together with her husband Karl, Rayna used to run the POWer Plants Community Nursery in the western suburbs of Melbourne. The nursery raised thousands of seedlings for schools, community groups, and home gardens; as well as helping many volunteers learn the joys of growing your own food. Rayna is passionate about low cost, nutritious food, and lives for the taste of home grown summer fruits.
