Time: 5.00pm - 7.00pm
Date: Tuesday 29 March
Where: Castlemaine Community House
Instructor: Jenny Howe
This workshop is designed to help participants make the most of the summer tomato abundance by preserving their own chopped tomatoes, salsa and chutney. Preserving tomatoes is a low-budget, cheap, environmentally friendly and nutritious option for eating tomatoes year-round.
Preserving small batches will be a focus of this workshop to show that preserving can be accessible and time efficient: you don’t need to worry about organising a complete passata day, or even have a passata machine to do this at home! Participants will be able to take home a jar of each tomato preserve made during the session, and the remainder will be donated to the Community Lunch for the Castlemaine community to enjoy throughout the year.
Please Bring:
- An apron
- 3x400ml or similar jars
- Herbs (basil or oregano)
- Onions or garlic
Proof of vaccination is required to participate in this workshop
